Why did people request that Jesus leave town after he transferred demons from humans into pig bodies?

He cured the men but they asked him to leave.

"When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"





Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding. The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs." He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.





Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region."|||Large numbers of Gentiles lived in this area of Galilee. Normally Jews did not raise pigs as they were the most unclean of all animals. But Jesus was met by the demon possessed men as he got off the boat, dealt with that problem, then faced the fear of the towns-people. They were probably more concerned about their financial loss than about the deliverance of their neighbours who had been set free! Typical of unspiritual people, don't you think? They cared more about money than about people. Jesus was the opposite way around.|||After what he did to the pigs they probably didn't want him destroying the rest of the livestock. He should have paid compensation to the swine herders for destroying their livelihoods as well, the typical do-gooding busybody.|||They were afraid of him and didn't want him "disturbing the peace" They thought he might cause them to be posessed by demons.|||All their bacon had just thrown itself into the sea, they were pissed.
