Anyone who would be so kind to help me? Genetic/Biolgy stuff!?

Can anyone who is good in their Biology/Genetics area, would be so kind to help me answer these 13 qeustions, I would be so grateful. I had 13 questions out of 100 questions that I did not know the answer to. Thank you in advance!

1) Northern blotting differs from Southern blotting in that:

A) DNA is transferred to the filter instead of RNA

B) transfer occurs from the filter to the gel

C) RNA is transferred to the filter instead of DNA

D) None of the above

2) Which of the following is not used in a PCR reaction?

A) Heat stable DNA polymerase

B) Specific primers

C) Template DNA

D) All of the above are used in PCR

3) A partial diploid provides two copies of the lac operon in a bacterium. If the bacterium's genotype is: I+P-O+Z-/I-P+O+Z+, will it be able to use lactose as a carbon source?

A) No

B) Yes

4)In the Lac operon, if glucose is present and lactose is absent:

A) cyclic AMP is high and the operon will be on

B) cyclic AMP is low and the operon will be on

C) cyclic AMP is high and the operon will be off

D) cyclic AMP is low and the operon will be off

5) If a TrpR repressor is mutated such that it can not bind tryptophan, how will the trp operon be affected?

A) The operon will always be on

B) The operon will always be off

C) There will be no effect

6) In control of the Trp operon by attenuation, which of the following results in termination of transcription?

A) Trp starvation allows quick translation through two tryptophan codons in the leader sequence.

B) Trp abundance allows for quick translation through two tryptophan codons in the leader sequence.

C) Trp abundance allows translation of the entire operon.

D) Trp starvation stalls translation at the two tryptophan codons in the leader sequence.

7) In regulation of the phage lytic cycle, abundant Cro protein represses lysogenic genes.

A) True

B) False

8) An embryonic stem cell is totipotent and an adult cell is not mainly because:

A) embryonic stem cells contain more genes than adult cells, allowing them to be totipotent.

B) adult cells contain more genes than embryonic stem cells, making them specialized.

C) differential gene expression in adult cells make them determined, whereas embryonic stem cells are not determined.

9) ntibody diversity is generated by somatic rearrangement of antibody gene segments.

A) True

B) False

10) Enhancers are regulatory sequences found:

A) Near the promoter region in prokaryotes.

B) Far from the promoter region in eukaryotes

C) Far from the promoter region in prokaryotes

D) Near the promoter region in eukaryotes.

11) Eukaryotes use alternative intron splicing, but not alternative polyadenylation as RNA processing controls.

A) True

B) False

12) Which of the following is true regarding steroid hormones?

A) Estrogen and testosterone are examples.

B) They ultimately lead to altered gene expression in their target cells.

C) Steroid receptor proteins are within the target cells.

D) All of the above are true.

13) Cloning experiments using adult epithelial DNA and enucleated egg cells show that adult cells have all the genes necessary to form a complete organism. However, due to differential gene expression adult cells are not normally totipotent.

A) True

B) False|||Here we go:

1) Northern blotting differs from Southern blotting in that:

C) RNA is transferred to the filter instead of DNA

2) Which of the following is not used in a PCR reaction?

D) All of the above are used in PCR

3) A partial diploid provides two copies of the lac operon in a bacterium. If the bacterium's genotype is: I+P-O+Z-/I-P+O+Z+, will it be able to use lactose as a carbon source?

7) In regulation of the phage lytic cycle, abundant Cro protein represses lysogenic genes.

A) True

(not sure)

8) An embryonic stem cell is totipotent and an adult cell is not mainly because:

C) differential gene expression in adult cells make them determined, whereas embryonic stem cells are not determined.

9) ntibody diversity is generated by somatic rearrangement of antibody gene segments.

A) True

Both B and D can be true, so not sure what to answer here.
